January 1949 - January 2015
I have always had an appreciation for fine art and have collected maritime art for many years. After I retired, I started to paint in oils. I opened MRK Gallery in Port Jefferson, short lived, but a great introduction into the art community. Oil painting has enriched my life and brought me peace, excitement, and new friendships.
My inspiration and encouragement to paint came from Paul R. Hee (a maritime artist who I admired). Since starting on my oil painting career, I have become a member of many artists’ organizations and made acquaintances with some extremely talented artists from whom I continue to grow through discussions and various techniques and critiques.
I have entered many exhibitions and have received recognition awards which keep my mind and interest at it's peak.
My work can be found in private collections, museums, and gallery exhibitions locally and along the East Coast. I'm a member of The Art League of Long Island, Huntington Arts Council, Smithtown Township Arts Council, Southampton Artists Association, Suburban Art League, and a member of Long Island Museum, LIM Arts, Guild Hall, Water Mill Museum and the Setauket Artists. I've been fortunate enough to have won many awards.
